A fire broke out in a forest area at De Platanen in Boekel on Friday afternoon. Nothing is yet known about the exact size of the fire.
The fire started around half past one in the afternoon. The fire brigade has been deployed with more vehicles.

Our province was ravaged by several large wildfires last Thursday. A very large fire raged on the Oirschotse Heide. The fire started on a military training area of Major General De Ruyter of Steveninck barracks.
The same afternoon a second major fire broke out between Budel and Weert. This fire also broke out on a military training ground. The flames threatened the adjacent Kempen Airport for a long time. The airport had to be evacuated for an extended period of time. This fire flared up again on Friday morning. Many emergency services are busy fighting the fire.
