A fire broke out in a warehouse in Nieuw-Buinen at the end of the afternoon. The building on Industrieweg is used for storage of clothing and wood in particular, reports the Drenthe Safety Region.
Fire crews from the area were called to battle the fire. We managed to prevent expansion to other buildings. There is a house directly adjacent to the warehouse. The residents have been evacuated.
Due to the fire, an NL Alert was sent around the beginning of the evening. People were asked to stay away from the smoke. The fire is now under control and the fire brigade is still extinguishing it.
People who are no longer bothered by the smoke can ventilate their homes again, the safety region reports. The smoke that was released moved in the direction of Musselkanaal.
The cause of the fire is also unknown.
