On the Korige – along the A7 between Marum and Frieschepalen – a lump of firewood is on fire on Saturday evening. The fire has spread to a forest plot.
Because it is difficult for the fire brigade to get water at that location, there is support from a water truck and a foam extinguishing container. A contractor has been called in to pull the lump of wood apart so that the fire can be better fought.
An inverted Dutch flag was also found on the spot, says a witness. The mayor of the municipality of Westerkwartier is informed of the fire.
