Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin files for divorce | Abroad

Sanna Marin, the outgoing prime minister of Finland, has filed for divorce with her husband Markus Raikkonen. They both announced this on Instagram on Wednesday.

“We are grateful for the nineteen years together and for our beloved daughter. We remain best friends,” they write in separate posts on Instagram Stories.

Marin and Raikkonen, who until recently worked for a venture capital firm, have a five-year-old daughter. They tied the knot in 2020 as Marin as prime minister dealt with the impact of the corona pandemic.

“We spent our childhood together, grew up together and became parents to our lovely daughter together,” Marin wrote on Instagram after marrying Raikkonen in August 2020.

LOOK. At the beginning of April, Marin lost the elections, yet she spoke of a brilliant achievement:

Marin and her social democratic party SDP lost last month’s Finnish elections to the right-wing National Coalition Party and the nationalist Finns Party. She will remain as prime minister until a new prime minister is appointed.

Marin (37) was the youngest prime minister in the world when she took up the position in 2019. She is seen worldwide as a role model for progressive new leaders, even as voters in their own country voted for a new government.
