Samuel Helenius was forged in the head.
PDO
Samuel Helenius, 22, dropped his gloves again in the NHL.
The 199-centimeter forward of the Los Angeles Kings fought the 11-centimeter shorter New York Rangers Connor Mackey against.
Despite the height difference, Mackey gave fierce resistance to the Finn. He threw hard punches and acted after the fight as if he had won the match.
The audience was fired up, but Sportsnet’s commentators were horrified by the violent display.
– Oh boys, this is the mood of the old alliance.
– It hurts to look.
The fight was the second of Helenius’ NHL career. He also dropped the gloves in November in the second NHL game of his career.
Mackey has already hit the farm league AHL three times this season and twice in the training season. He played his first NHL game of the season against the Kings.
Embarrassing outcome
Although the Rangers’ home crowd was fired up for a moment by Mackey’s fist show, the team squatted badly as the game progressed.
The Kings replaced Rangers’ star goalkeeper Igor Šestjorkin in the second period, when the game was already 5–0.
The match ended 5–1 for the Kings. Madison Square Garden rewarded the Rangers with loud boos when the final buzzer sounded.
Five Los Angeles natives collected a balance of two power points. Helenius, who played himself as a credit party for the four chain, was left scoreless and collected just under 10 minutes of ice time. Rangers Kaapo Kako played 13:37 without power.
