On Tuesday, the final matches of the World Ice Hockey Series will be played.
On Monday night, the Lions fell into a great victory over one of the World Cup pre-favorites when it beat Canada at the end of the winning shot by 2-1.
With the victory, Finland ensured that it would be second or third in the A block. The number of possible quarter -finals also decreased, as now the Lion will play either Czech Republic, Switzerland, USA or Canada in the first round.
Finland will face Canada again in the quarter-finals if Denmark wins Germany in the B-block B and Canada won’t win its today’s Swedish match in regular time.
This rarer semi -final round of the blocks would be due to the fact that Sweden and Denmark are hosted by the tournament and cannot meet in the quarter -finals.
In other words, if Sweden wins the A block and Denmark is the fourth in block B, the quarter-finals will be played internally, ie Finland would face Canada.
However, if Germany wins Denmark or Canada wins Sweden in regular time, the Lions’ opponent would normally come from B-block. Then it would be Czech Republic, Switzerland or USA.
