This weekend Peize finally celebrates the opening of the new sports house. This is a kind of canteen that several clubs use and that have been waiting for a year. It is built on the edge of the fields of VV Peize, against the existing gym.
Eric Berghuis from VV Peize calls the associations in this way. “Football club Peize, Jumping Five Basketball, Volleyball Peize, DSTV gymnastics and then high play. The latter is Badminton.” In addition, Peize are also on the move and Kidscasa childcare in the new building.
The football club had been waiting for the new building for a long time. The previous clubhouse was old and was hardly maintained anymore because a new one came. But no connection to the power grid was available for the new building. The contractor had already finished construction at the beginning of 2024, but only a year later did the building got electricity. “We have received a beautiful building, with views of field 1 and field 2. So the Sporthuis becomes for indoor athletes and football players. There are different spaces. Everything is possible here,” says Berghuis.
The football club is the largest user of the building. Yet Robert Bolt of DSTV is not worried that they are pushed away. “That is also due to ourselves. We ‘claim’ our space if necessary, no problem.” Berghuis of the football department goes one step further. He only sees the boundaries between the clubs fade. “Then I will speak for myself, but I still see an omnisport association. There will be football players who cannot agree with it, but the cross -pollination will be there.”
In any case, the gentlemen of the gymnastics and the football club are satisfied with the result. “It also stimulates the quality of life. Everyone knows that it will happen here in terms of sport and then it is up to us to ensure that the sports house stays alive,” says Bolt. Erik Berghuis appeals to him. “How can you jointly come to something beautiful? I think this is a nice blueprint for other associations. If you want to know something you will come by. You can just take the experience we have.”
