The fans of FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart expressed their displeasure with the German Football Association (DFB) with a concerted action at the cup final.
The umbrella organization was denigrated with angry chants and large banners in the first minutes of the second half of the DFB Cup final in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.
Banner with “Plaintiff, Judge, Executioner”
A huge banner with a crossed out DFB coat of arms wandered around the lower tier of the stadium. The words “Plaintiff, Judge, Executioner” could be read on it. The protest, which started in the 51st minute based on the 50+1 rule, was directed, in addition to the high ticket prices for the game, against the association’s disproportionate jurisdiction in fan offenses from the fans’ perspective.
At the end of the action, both fan camps set off massive pyrotechnics and caused the game to be interrupted immediately after Bayern took a 1-0 lead through star striker Harry Kane.
For the cup final, the standard ticket cost 80 euros, while a few seats in the lower tier were available for 45 euros. Two thirds of all tickets in the Olympic Stadium (categories 1 and 2) cost between 150 and 195 euros.

DFB announces review
The DFB reacted to the events. “We are happy about a lively fan culture. But this must not lead to the curves deciding whether the game is interrupted or even abandoned. We will discuss and work through everything else after the cup final. Today, the focus should be on sport.”said the association upon request.
