The West Frisian Lintdorp Twisk will be treated this Saturday afternoon to a clear blue sky and the necessary rays of the sun. Ideal weather for a round in the whirligig during the first fair day, traditionally during the Easter weekend.

The Dorpsplein is well filled, with a shooting tent, hoppers, planes, a candy and oliebollenkraam, catch ducks and throwing balls. This to the great satisfaction of Twiskers Fred Wagemaker Sten Nieuweboer. “We have done it again,” it sounds. “Children who are happy is all.”

Primary school with 80 students

Wagemaker caught sounds in 2018 that the attractions would no longer come. The reason: the operators earned too little due to costs and low interest. Twisk has around 1,000 inhabitants and the primary school 80 students.

“I know the operator of the whirligig well, so I called him.” I don’t agree with this. Just assume that you just have to come, “I told him.”

Wagemaker suggested collecting ‘starter money’, so that the (most) costs for the fairground operators are covered. Local companies were approached together with his buddy Sten Nieuweboer (‘he is good at searching sponsors’). “Then it was quickly resolved. That’s how we have been doing it every year since then. They know it will be fine.”
