What a cute monkey business!

At Tierpark Berlin there are youngsters – already the fifth young animal in just two years!

The little monkey was born in mid-August. It is said to weigh a whopping 600 grams. So far, however, there is no name. Because: The gender is still unknown.

The future playmates already have names for this: Sina, Paul, Svea and Axel. They were all born this year or last year

So far, however, the offspring have been taking it easy: exploring the zoo on mum’s back instead of walking by themselves!

The blood breast baboons, as they are also called, live exclusively in northern Ethiopia at over 1500 meters. They are considered potentially endangered. The reason: people are after their meat. In addition, the males used to be killed in order to make headdresses from their manes.

Care is a must: especially if you play outside all day

Of course, they are spared this fate in the zoo. The primates have been kept there since 1992.
