They are intended to highlight striking and unforgettable moments from the current FIFA Club World Cup, providing digital versions of valuable memories.

Since launching the FIFA+ Collect platform, FIFA has conducted a total of 11 NFT drops, minting 909,255 digital collectibles, according to Cointelegraph. In total, the platform has generated a total trading volume of $2.4 million across primary and secondary NFT markets, the news site further reports.

The FIFA Club World Cup is currently being held in Saudi Arabia

The FIFA Club World Cup, which began on December 12 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, brings together seven of the world’s leading soccer teams in one tournament. The participating teams represent the winners of the international club competitions of the six confederations of FIFA. These include Al Ahly FC from the CAF region, Auckland City FC from the OFC, Fluminense FC from CONMEBOL, Club Leon from Concacaf, Urawa Reds from the AFC and Manchester City FC from UEFA. The field of participants is supplemented by the current champions of the Saudi professional league, Al Ittihad from Jeddah.

FIFA wants to open up new ways of fan interaction

FIFA’s launch of the NFT collection is in line with its strategy to leverage innovative technologies and explore new avenues for fan interaction. FIFA Chief Business Officer Romy Gai was very confident about the growing popularity of the FIFA+ Collect platform. He highlighted in a post on FIFA’s website that the new digital offerings would offer fans an innovative and unique way to connect more deeply with the sport. Gai further emphasized that these products would not only enrich the fan experience, but also make a significant contribution to the expanding digital collectibles market. Francesco Abbate, CEO of the tech company Modex, with which FIFA is collaborating on the NFT launch, complemented these statements by emphasizing the importance of digital collectibles for fans. He said that these NFTs would open up new ways of interacting with favorite players and teams and called it an honor to support FIFA in this pioneering venture.
