Cheering in Stockholm instead of Paris – Argentinian Nicolas “Nicolas” Villalba won the eChampions League in FIFA 22 and accepted the pot from football icon Kaká.

One day before the final between Liverpool FC and Real Madrid, the pinnacle of virtual football met. Nicolas from Guild Esports triumphed in the final against his compatriot Matías “Matias” Bonanno (7:2).

“We know how special the Champions League is in real life, so this is a very nice trophy,” said Nicolas in the winner’s interview.

Four German FIFA pros in the eChampions League

Four of the eight participants in the final tournament were German. The VBL club champion Umut “Umut” Gültekin from RB Leipzig stumbled in the first match against Nicolas (2: 4).

In the lower bracket, Umut delivered a thriller against the Israeli Roee “Feldman” Feldman (2: 3), unluckily missing the equalizer twice in the last minutes of the game.

“I’m at the end like never before. Still can’t stop crying,” wrote Umut on his Twitter channel. He was mad at the game, but also mad about his performance, he wrote.

Werder Bremen’s Ali “Predator” Oskoui Rad also sadly turned to his Twitter followers: “I’ve never been so heartbroken in my life,” he wrote.

For Deniel “Denii” Mutic from 1. FC Heidenheim and Laurin “Snakez” Noah Bartsch from VfL Bochum 1848 it was already over after the first match in the lower bracket.
