Last night a fierce fire raged in a barn on the Zuiderdiep in Drouwenermond. Straw was stored in the building.
There were also several animals in the barn, which were brought to safety. No one was injured in the fire.
The fire was discovered just after 3 a.m. The fire brigade came out with a lot of equipment and could thus prevent the entire barn from going up in flames. The shed was badly damaged, the flames caused, among other things, a large hole in the roof.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire brigade was still busy with extinguishing work in the early morning.
