“The captains from the Premier League and Kitchen Champion division give their appreciation to the fields in the Netherlands every week,” the VVCS explains. “After each round of play, VVCS chairman Evgeniy Levchenko receives a text message from the captains of the away clubs with a rating from 1 (poor) to 5 (top field) for the field on which they played.”
PSV scores best
A turf can receive a maximum of 5 points in the assessment. The PSV field scored 4.53 points last season. Feyenoord was stuck at 4.35 points and Ajax’s turf in the Johan Cruijff ArenA is third on the list with 4.29.
At the bottom of the list is Telstar, with a score of 2.76. The AZ field also scores poorly: with an average of 3.29, the Alkmaarders are in sixteenth place of a total of eighteen clubs. The full rankings are can be viewed here.
