Feyenoord with newcomer Dilrosun and Boëtius down hard against Union Sint-Gillis | NOW

Feyenoord lost to Union Sint-Gillis on Saturday afternoon in preparation for the new season. Partly due to a hit by Bart Nieuwkoop, formerly active for the Rotterdam team, it became 0-4 for the Belgian team.

Union Sint-Gillis was in the race for the Belgian title for a long time last season and could therefore be called a serious opponent for Feyenoord.

With the Rotterdam team, Javairô Dilrosun celebrated his unofficial debut in the exhibition game that consisted of two halves of an hour and was played at Varkenoord, the training complex of Feyenoord. The attacker asserted himself with a few individual actions, but he too could not prevent Feyenoord from resting with a 0-2 deficit.

Former Feyenoord player Nieuwkoop took care of the 0-1, after which Dennis-Yerai Eckert Ayensa doubled the margin in favor of the Belgian visitors.

After the resumption, Feyenoord started with a completely different team. Jean-Paul Boëtius also made his appearance. The winger has been keeping his condition up in South Rotterdam since last week after his contract with FSV Mainz 05 expired.

Union Sint-Gillis runs further away from Feyenoord

The losing Conference League finalist failed to turn around after the break. It was thanks to goalkeeper Thijs Jansen that Union Sint-Gillis initially did not run away: the keeper saved a penalty from Teddy Teuma. Just before time, the visitors ran out via Ross Sykes and Ilyes Ziani and ended up 0-4.

Earlier this practice campaign Feyenoord lost 0-7 against FC Copenhagen. Last week, Arne Slot’s team did settle with Red Bull Salzburg: 1-2. For the Rotterdammers, the Eredivisie season will start on August 7 with an away game against Vitesse.

Union Sint-Gillis will start the Belgian competition next week, when Sint-Truiden is the opponent.
