The selection of trainer Arne Slot would try his luck in the Southern European country in preparation for the Eredivisie resumption against Vitesse on January 15, but is not doing so due to several corona infections within the staff and the selection.
Risk
The players and staff members who have been diagnosed with corona are now in isolation. The club does not consider it responsible to travel to southern Spain with the other players and staff because of the risk of even more destinations, which may also result in a quarantine obligation.
Players and staff would travel to the Spanish city of Jerez on Monday to prepare for the second half of the season. Multiple training sessions would be completed from Tuesday to Friday.
It is still unclear whether the practice match against Club Brugge, with which the training camp would be concluded, might be able to continue. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, January 8.
