Feyenoord played a draw at home against sc Heerenveen on Saturday evening. Trainer Arne Slot did not see his formation go further than 0-0. The team from Rotterdam did have the necessary opportunities, but encountered the strong Heerenveen goalkeeper Andries Noppert, among other things.
The start of Feyenoord was particularly convincing. Within a few minutes, the team from Rotterdam already had three chances. There was a good shot from Sebastian Szymanski, but Noppert made a good save. Then Jacob Rasmussen headed over the crossbar. Shortly afterwards there was an attempt by Marcus Pedersen, but again Noppert intervened.
After that, the strength of the offensive waned somewhat. There were still opportunities for Javairô Dilrosun and Danilo, but they also couldn’t get the ball past the Heerenveen goalkeeper.
Busy
Feyenoord played with the same team as before in the won opening game against Vitesse. It was only after an hour that Slot made a few substitutions, in a phase that Heerenveen came into play a little better. Orkun Kökçü, who has recovered from an injury, made his appearance, as did striker Oussama Idrissi. In the final phase, the Mexican Santiago Giménez was also allowed to make his debut.
It all caused a bit more pressure on the part of the home team. For example, Dilrosun was threatening several times. On the other hand, Amin Sarr was close to the opening goal. However, the Swede encountered the Rotterdam goalkeeper Justin Bijlow. Thom Haye did the same with a free kick.
Jens Toornstra, just in the field, almost made the 1-0 in the 86th minute. Again, however, Noppert stood in the way of the Rotterdam team.
