Feyenoord catches record amount for Sinisterra, Malacia to Manchester United

Feyenoord has a record transfer with the departure of Luis Sinisterra. The club from Rotterdam sells the Colombian winger after 113 official matches for at least 25 million euros to Leeds United from England, an amount that can increase even further due to bonuses. Report that, among other things the AD and The Telegraph† Due to the official departure of left back Tyrell Malacia to the English Manchester United for at least 15 million euros, this is already the most lucrative transfer summer that Feyenoord has ever had.

The transfer fee for Sinisterra surpasses the old record from 2006, when Feyenoord collected 18 million euros from Liverpool for Dirk Kuijt. The 23-year-old made the switch from Colombian Once Caldas in 2018. In his first year he had a hard time in Rotterdam. It was thanks to then head coach Jaap Stam that Sinisterra was not kept at FC Dordrecht in his second year: he gave the dribbler confidence. Since then, the Colombian has been a basic player at Feyenoord, although he was not available for almost all of 2020 due to a serious cruciate ligament injury.

Last season, the winger made a definitive breakthrough, partly thanks to the attacking style of trainer Arne Slot. In all competitions, Sinisterra scored 23 times and impressed with his dribbling moves and decisive goals. His game also ensured that Feyenoord reached the final of the Conference League, in which AS Roma was too strong 1-0. The European football association UEFA named the five-time Colombian international the biggest talent of the tournament.

Tyrell Malacia

In the Premier League, Sinisterra will encounter left back Malacia, with whom he played on the left flank at Feyenoord. The 22-year-old Rotterdammer exchanges his mother club after 136 official matches for at least 15 million euros for Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United. It has never been a secret that as an Ajax trainer, Ten Hag was also a big fan of Malacia, who made his debut as an 18-year-old in 2017 against the Italian Napoli in the Champions League (2-1 win).

After years of limited financial resources, Feyenoord can now enter the transfer market with a well-filled wallet. In particular, the club should be looking for goals. With the departure of Sinisterra, Bryan Linssen (Urawa Red Diamonds), Guus Til (PSV) and Cyriel Dessers (back at KRC Genk), the team from Rotterdam will lose more than two thirds of their total goal production from last season. For the time being, only striker Danilo Pereira was brought back for this. The Brazilian comes transfer-free from Ajax.
