The works should ensure that no more traffic jams arise between the entrance and exit of the A19 in Wervik and the Ringweg in Menen. The N58 will be able to handle more traffic and will also become safer. The roundabout will be replaced by an intersection with smart traffic lights. There will also be two new bicycle tunnels on the route.
Now that the environmental permit has been approved, the contractor can work out his planning. The intention is to start the works in the spring of 2025, probably March or April. They would last 1.5 to 2 years. The cost is 10 million euros.
