Festival Into The Great Wide Open wants to become ‘climate positive’. Seaweed may be the savior of festival culture, and of humanity

The latter mainly refers to the 4000 tons of CO2 emissions generated by the festival editions from 2009 until now. According to head of sustainability and innovation Tijl Couzij, there is a plan, “half joking”, to make that amount visible by capturing these CO2 emissions in building materials made from wood, bamboo or even seaweed. “So you can see: that wall, or that monument, is our emissions.”
