“The entire village lives for it. Saturday should have been the party of the year. It would be a shame if it couldn’t go ahead because of something like that,” says Snippe. “As a company and as a person, I think you should support this, so that the festival can be organized again next year. Some insurance will certainly be reimbursed, but that really does not cover everything. There was a nice line-up this year, and hopefully that will work out again next year.”
Mitsy Haeck calls the support from the village ‘heart-warming’. She indicates that she and the other board members, all volunteers, are busy with the insurance these days and have not yet had time for other matters such as handling the tickets. But it is certain that this is a financial downer.
‘You also miss out on an entire edition of turnover’
Haeck: “It’s not just about material that is broken and artists who still have to be paid. People forget that you also miss out on an entire edition of turnover, even though everything had already been purchased and was ready to be used. In the near future it will become clear what we do and do not get reimbursed.”
The 5,000 tickets were sold out within ten minutes at the beginning of this year. Big names such as Van Dik Hout, S10, Ronnie Flex and Oôs Joôs would be on stage.
