Ferry Doedens causes quite a bit of annoyance to Johan Derksen. The VI mustache believes that the actor gets away with his dangerous driving behavior far too easily. “Take away your driver’s license for ten years!”
Ferry Doedens is currently doing community service because he was caught driving under the influence of hard drugs twice, but last week he had to appear in court because he was caught a third (!) time. He was, among other things, behind the wheel under the influence of crystal meth. Bizarre, but the punishment is mild: a fine of 800 euros.
‘A shame!’
Johan Derksen, one of the most influential opinion makers in our country, cannot follow this. “I think that’s a shame. More people are caught behind the wheel with drugs these days than alcohol, right? I think: there is only one punishment, zero tolerance“, he says Today Inside.
He continues: “If you sit in a car with drugs or alcohol, you are looking for manslaughter if something happens. That Ferry Doedens, I believe his name is, he is a bit degraded. He was in a car with three different drugs in his system and he then receives an 800 euro fine and a few hours of community service.”
For ten years
What would have been a more appropriate punishment according to Johan? “They should have just taken away his driver’s license for ten years. I think someone who is caught with drugs or alcohol should immediately surrender their driver’s license for a few years and she will learn that.”
He concludes: “But this soft approach does not work. People are not impressed by it. He will simply pay the 800 euros and he will be back in the car tomorrow.”
