The CEO of Maranello: “I think little about criticism. We have positive feedback from customers”. Lamborghini won’t make an electric car
After three days of institutional commitments but also of sometimes ferocious criticism, Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, does not shy away from questions about the Luce, the first electric car of the Maranello brand. He did it from the stage of the Motor Valley Fest in Modena. “In life I’m used to doing what I say, not what others tell me” said Vigna in what appears to be a reply primarily to Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. The former number one of the red team said on Tuesday 26 May: “I hope the Cavallino is removed from that car at least”. “In reality I think little about criticism, I like working on the future”, explained Vigna, claiming “a scientific approach” in the design of the new car. “We continue on our way, also because we have more positive feedback from customers.” As for the detractors, he added, “I understand them, because they haven’t seen it: if you don’t see the car you won’t be able to understand”.
“let’s continue with the thermals”

“We will give the order numbers in the next conference call” continued the Ferrari CEO. The next call with analysts will be held in August on the occasion of the presentation of the accounts for the first six months of 2026. “If you see it you understand that it is not copied by the Chinese, it has nothing to do with the electric cars of other players” explained Vigna who also reiterated that Ferrari will not abandon combustion engines to focus only on electric. “We will also do electric, not only that”, he underlined. As for the price, an element criticized by some financial analysts, the CEO of the Maranello company observed: “Innovation must be made to pay. It has always been a principle of mine. If you don’t make it pay you do three wrongs: to the people who work in the company, to all the people in the supply chain and to the technology itself”.
open orders

On the market front, Vigna claimed a positive start: “We opened orders yesterday morning (27 May, ed) and several customers, especially new ones, have already placed them”. As proof of the interest, he reported having received bank transfers from important banking institutions: “They want it immediately”. The first deliveries, he announced, will start next year, when “disguised road tests” will also be possible.
Lamborghini, nothing electric
—
Also participating in the Motor Valley Fest was Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Lamborghini. “Many have called me” to have a comment on the Ferrari Luce explained the number 1 from Sant’Agata Bolognese. “I don’t enjoy (the difficulties of others, ed) in fact I rejoice if they go well because we are gentlemen”, he said. “Ferrari is the luxury super sports brand that sells the most, then there are Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Bentley and McLaren. If this community can’t survive it’s a problem. The theme is understanding how to ferry it into the future. And for us, Ferrari and Lamborghini, it’s more difficult.” As for the decisions at home, Winkelmann explained that “we won’t make it” the electric car. “Everyone has their customers and their decisions and this is very important.” “We decided – concluded Winkelmann – that the fourth model is a plug-in hybrid for all the things we have seen over the years” and because “the desire to buy BEVs has decreased”.
