Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz starts at the back in France | Motorsport

On Friday it was already announced that Sainz was using a new engine part, the so-called control electronics (CE). That already resulted in a ten-place penalty for him. As expected, the other parts of his power source followed on Saturday. That’s why he has to start all the way back. The same goes for Haas driver Kevin Magnussen, who also has to use his fourth engine.

Sainz’ teammate Charles Leclerc previously started from the back row in Canada. Several engines have broken down at Ferrari this year during a race. Max Verstappen has not yet encountered any problems with his Honda power source. Only in Baku, the eighth race weekend, did he use his second engine.
