Fernando Reyes, who has been together with André van Duin for a few months, was still married when he fell in love with the comedian and presenter. He therefore decided to divorce his current partner at the time, the dancer tells Wednesday in The Telegraph†
“That was not easy,” Reyes said in the newspaper. “I made no secret of what had happened to me here from my ex-partner. I was not unhappy in Spain, but the click with André surpasses everything.”
According to the dancer, the breakup and subsequent divorce was arranged in harmony with his ex. “No problems arose, but of course I didn’t like it. Saying goodbye is always accompanied by pain.”
Van Duin (75) and Reyes (61) have known each other for forty years. The comedian and his then partner Wim regularly visited the dancer and vice versa, but the contact dwindled over the years.
After the death of Van Duin’s husband Martin Elferink in early 2020 and his girlfriend Corrie van Gorp later that same year, Reyes made himself heard. That led to a cup of coffee and eventually to a relationship around the turn of the year.
