Fenerbahçe Club presidential candidate Barış Göktürk said that election uncertainty caused great damage to the community.
Göktürk made a statement to the press after the third anniversary event of the Istanbul Fenerbahçe Supporters Association, which was held at Çırağan Palace with the participation of Fenerbahçe Club President Sadettin Saran.
Reminding that Fenerbahçe still has a chance for the championship, Göktürk said, “Uncertainty is the enemy of success. Therefore, we need to get out of this environment of uncertainty as soon as possible. There is an election or there is no choice. We, as a community, need to hear it as soon as possible. I wish there had been no promise that there would be such an election at the beginning of the year, I wish such a situation had not happened. I hope this environment of uncertainty will end as soon as possible. We still have a chance of winning the championship, but this environment of uncertainty reduces our chance and has already reduced it.” he said.
Stating that the yellow-dark blue community has serious problems, Göktürk continued as follows:
“We gathered as a team and made a serious sports and financial analysis. I will explain these at the Supreme Council. At the same time, if there is an opportunity beforehand, I plan to explain it in a media channel. We have 12 handcuffed contracts in Fenerbahçe. There are serious problems that we cannot get out of. While we normally have to pay salaries to 28 players, we are currently paying salaries to over 40 players. This is a problem that occurred due to election economies. The 2024 and 2025 elections are bad for us. “The elections did not benefit Fenerbahçe, they brought harm. Therefore, we know that this election economy creates a problem for Fenerbahçe.”
Reminding that it should be determined as soon as possible whether there will be an election or not, Göktürk concluded his words as follows:
“Hopefully, we will get rid of this uncertainty. We have done a serious study. We will explain what Fenerbahçe’s sporting and financial salvation should be, how this issue should be solved in 5 phases. Especially the income-expenditure balance needs to be solved. We also come with significant financial resources. We will explain this. I will explain how much money we will put in, how long we will put it in, but neither with my money, nor with the money of Ali President (Coach) in the past, nor with the money of an Arab sheikh, Fenerbahçe will not be saved. Fenerbahçe’s salvation is primarily to balance income and expenses, to create sustainable economic projects and thus to save Fenerbahçe from needing people. I hope we will create this awareness in the community. Regardless of who is elected or the president continues, our team, financial means and projects are ready as soon as possible.
