A recent ruling by the Council of State makes it clear that freedom of religion in the Netherlands takes precedence over everything. When violence is called for in the name of a religion, our judicial elite believes that the freedom to promote atrocities is superior to the prevention of great human suffering. A mayor does not have to intervene if an Islamic preacher in his city advises cutting out the genitals of girls. His mosque is above the law in this case. The spread of Islamic morality that involves violence is protected here, not the child who has to undergo the horror.
