Federica Brignone spoke openly about the most difficult phase of her career. After the break of shin and fabric and a cruciate ligament tear in April, it was long unclear whether the Italian ski world champion could run normally again. She did not know if “she would ever ski again,” she said on Friday.
It is still open whether she can start next winter. “I’m not ready to drive yet,” said the 35-year-old at a press conference in France. A second operation in summer should help, but pain accompany you to this day. Even with jogging, she only holds out for a few minutes.
Nevertheless, Brignone trains for her big goal: the 2026 Olympics in Italy. “I want to give everything so that I don’t have to regret anything,” she emphasized. Do not feel pressure, she no longer “needed” a gold medal – her career is already rich enough.
The Italian won the overall World Cup twice, won 37 times in the World Cup and collected a total of eight World Cup medals, including two titles.
