Zurich (AP) – After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, tennis superstar Roger Federer wants to provide financial support to victims of the war of aggression.

Half a million US dollars should go to the War Child Holland organization through his foundation to give Ukrainian children access to schooling, the 40-year-old Swiss said on Twitter.

“My family and I are shocked by the pictures from Ukraine and heartbroken because of the innocent people who are so terribly affected,” wrote the 20-time Grand Slam winner. “We stand for peace.” Federer has four children with his wife Mirka. In terms of sport, Federer hopes to return this summer after another knee operation last August.
