Federal Scoring: How many points does each type of infraction take away?

What began to be projected long ago, and which was an outstanding debt, was definitively activated throughout the Argentine territory. From today it began to work “Federal Scoring”a unified system in which each driver or driver make one infringement will receive a deduction of points that may cause you to suspend the license to drive from 60 days to indefinitely.

As of today, each jurisdiction that adheres must incorporate the system through its Legislature, Deliberative Council or area empowered to record the deduction of points from the license of each offender as provided. The Province of Buenos Aires was one of the first to adhere.

How many points does each driver’s license have?

• Each driver has 20 points.
• Points will be deducted with each infraction committed.
• The points deducted will depend on the type of infraction committed: they range from 5 points to 20 once only in cases such as, for example, those who are stopped running dives.

How many points does each type of infraction take away?

• Drive with license driving expired: -5 points.
motorcyclists without helmet: -5 points.
• Cross with the traffic lights in red: -5 points.
• Circular without the Mandatory Technical Review: -4 points.
• Not properly wearing the belt of security: -4 points.
• Driving with physical or mental impairments: -10 points.
• Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs: -10 points.
• Not respecting the Speed ​​limits minimum, less than 30%: -5 points.
• Not respecting the maximum speed limitsin more than 30%: -10 points.
• Driving while disabled or with the suspended license: -20 points.
• Participate or organize unauthorized skills competitions or dives on public roads: -20 points.

What happens if a driver loses all 20 points?

• If the 20 points are lost for first time: the license will be disabled by 60 days.
• The second time: will be 120 days of disqualification.
• Third: 180 days license disqualification.
• Starting from the fourth time, the period of disqualification will be successively doubled.

Can I recover points before losing the 20 that each license has?

If the losses of points were partial, the drivers will be able to rrecover 4 points after making a free virtual course which will be accessed through website of the National Road Safety Agency. Private drivers can take this course every two years and professionals every year.

To ensure the effectiveness of the system, it will have an interaction between the National Driver’s License System (Sinalic) and the National Certificate of Traffic Records (Cenat). In this way, the Driving License Issuance Centers will have accurate and up-to-date information on each driver at the time of issuing the renewal of this document.
