The federal police picked up 19 refugees after a tip from citizens near Forst (Spree-Neisse).

The boys and men from Syria, Turkey and Iraq, aged 14 to 44, were smuggled to Germany by an unknown person in a truck on Thursday and dropped off in a wooded area, the federal police said on Friday. The young people were handed over to the youth welfare office in Forst. The remaining men were taken to the country’s first reception.

Shortly before, officials in the Sacro district of the city of Forst discovered three men without a residence permit when checking a car, the federal police reported.

The 39-year-old driver and his 22-year-old passenger, on the other hand, could have identified themselves with German residence permits. The two are now being investigated on suspicion of smuggling in foreigners.
