FC St. Pauli has announced its second winter signing: winger Noah Weißhaupt (23) comes from SC Freiburg. Like James Sands (24, New York City FC), who was presented the day before, the Rostock native is on loan. On the left flank, Hamburg suffered from the long-term absence of Elias Saad (25) in the first half of the season. Weißhaupt was also used on the right side at the sports club.

“Noah has a lot of speed, which he uses cleverly in one-on-one situations and repeatedly poses problems for the opposing defense,” explained head coach Alexander Blessin. “That’s why we expect Noah to be able to develop even more danger and goal-scoring ability with him, as he can also put his teammates in the spotlight with his balls into the center.” FC St. Pauli has had a problem so far this season offensively something else. Twelve goals this season are the weakest haul of any Bundesliga team. Thanks to the second-best defense with only 19 goals conceded, the brown-whites are currently in a satisfactory 14th place.

Sports director Andreas Bornemann emphasized: “With this commitment we are creating additional opportunities for our game in the offensive wing positions and are therefore more difficult to calculate in the future. Noah is very well trained in football and, in addition to his dynamism, also has the flexibility to be able to play on both sides. He has a lot of experience at Bundesliga level, which is why we are convinced that he will immediately play a good role for us.”

Weißhaupt said: “I’m looking forward to my time in Hamburg and playing in front of the fans at Millerntor. I believe that I will find very good conditions at FC St. Pauli to take the next step in my development. After all, this also worked very well for other players from Freiburg. Now it will be a matter of arriving in this new environment as quickly as possible so that I can then be recommended for assignments.”
