“Realignment” in FCSP training
FC St. Pauli has found a new man to fill the post of goalkeeper coach that Mathias Hain had emigrated to for many years. Marco Knoop, who initially looked after the goalkeepers of Bochum’s U19s, Leipzig’s former reserve and BVB juniors, was most recently under contract with FC Nordsjaelland. In Turkey, the 43-year-old was previously employed by Fenerbahce and is now supposed to accompany a rethinking of the training design in Hamburg.
“With the realignment of our training, we wanted to focus on the further development of the goalkeepers,” commented FCSP sports director Andreas Bornemann. “In his previous positions, Marco has worked with both talented and seasoned professionals and thus corresponds exactly to our requirement profile. Thanks to his international experience, he can also provide additional impetus.” Predecessor Hain, who was a goalkeeper himself, had coached the Kiezklub’s keeper since he retired in 2011 and left the club after the past season.
FC St. Pauli has completed its coaching team for the 2022/23 season and hired goalkeeping coach Marco #Knoop. Most recently, the 43-year-old worked for the Danish first division club @FCNordsjaelland.
