FC St. Pauli has only celebrated a home win. The second should follow against Union Berlin.

Steffen Baumgart’s return to Hamburg ended with a disappointment. The former HSV trainer and today’s coach of Union Berlin lost with his team at FC St. Pauli 0: 3. In the second home win of the “Kiezkicker” in the current Bundesliga season, striker Morgan Guilavogui stood out. The national player Guineas scored two goals and led St. Pauli to 13th place in the table. The third goal was achieved only 66 seconds earlier Danel Sinani (90.+3 minute).

Union Berlin, on the other hand, slipped by one position, is now only 14. With 20 points after 19 games, both teams remain in the relegation battle, but have six points ahead of the relegation place.

St. Pauli’s coach Alexander Blessin was pleased to rely on the offensive player Elias Saad in the squad that was missing since the beginning of October. Next to him on the bench, Oladapo Afolayan also took a seat. The Duo had helped the Hanseatic Last season to climb. However, Blessin started on the left wing with the nimble winter access Noah Weißhaupt.

Steffen Baumgart relied on the eleven, who last defeated Mainz 2: 1. Including Aljoscha Kemlein. The highly assessed 20 -year -old midfielder returned to his former employer. In the second half of the 2023/24 season, he was awarded to the neighborhood club – and became a top performer in the promotion season.

Both teams seemed to be aware of the waving point yield against a competitor and started actively. However, there were initially no significant scoring opportunities. Nevertheless, the game was not lacking in fiery duels and the necessary mentality.

After a little more than 26 minutes, the game received its deserved first big chance. Thanks to the hosts: Guilavogui roamed the latte with his attempt and missed the lead goal. Shortly afterwards, captain Jackson Irvine Union goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow checked.

Both Hamburgers were then involved in the lead goal. The Australian international Irvine staged his teammate with a clever passport. And Guilavogui scored the first goal of the evening with a tight shot from an acute angle. The official league portal called a gunfire of 106.89 kilometers per hour.

The Berliners started the second half furiously. St. Paulis Hauke Wahl threw himself into Jordan, free to the goal and steered the ball next to the goal. Shortly after an offensive campaign by the guests, the Hanseates switched far too quickly for the poorly staggered Union defensive. The strong Johannes Eggestein served the completely free Guilavogui, who easily scored the second goal.

Afolayan had the chance to protect the nerves of the Hamburgers more in the final phase, but he awarded in the 82nd with a lifter from a short distance. For their part, the guests became dangerous, especially in standard situations, but it was not enough for a goal of the team from the former striker Baumgart. Instead, St. Pauli met again in added time.
