FC Schalke 04 welcomes regional league promoters

FC Schalke 04 is in the middle of planning for the 2022/23 Bundesliga season. As the promoted team announced on Friday afternoon, there are now a few framework dates for the royal blue professionals.

FC Schalke 04’s mission to stay up in the league begins with the first training session on June 22 (expected to start at 11 a.m.) at the Parkstadion in Gelsenkirchen. Admission is free for fans, said S04.

Two days beforehand, the Schalke pros complete the obligatory performance tests. Then at the latest it will become clear how the players used their free time after the much-celebrated return to the Bundesliga. Unless they are assigned to national team games, Schalke have a total of five weeks off training.

A week after the start of training, new coach Frank Kramer sends his team into a first test match. The opponent will be announced shortly, according to the district club. On July 2nd (3:30 p.m.), the Schalke entourage travels to Blau-Weiss Lohne, who have been promoted to the regional league.

Two more friendlies (July 6th and 9th) will take place before the trip to the training camp in Mittersill, Austria (July 11th to 18th). There should also be two ways to test in Austria.

After returning from Mittersill and a week of training in Gelsenkirchen, the newly promoted team is planning one last test match (July 22nd) before the season (July 24th) is to officially open with the fans. Just a week later, Frank Kramer will make his competitive debut in the first round of the DFB Cup (July 29 to August 1). Schalke 04 is traveling to Bremer SV for this.

The squad that the new head coach will start the new season with will be revealed in the coming weeks. Even before the start of training, the traditional club in Florent Mollet (Montpellier HSC), Tobias Mohr (1. FC Heidenheim), Tom Krauß (on loan from RB Leipzig), Ibrahima Cisse (KAA Gent), Leo Greiml (Rapid Vienna) and Justin Heekeren (Rot-Weiß Oberhausen) committed some new players. The loan agreement with Dong-gyeong Lee (Ulsan Hyundai) was also extended until the end of the year.
