FC Schalke 04 have announced the commitment of Jordan Larsson (25). The son of Swedish striker Henrik Larsson has signed a contract with the Royal Blues until 2025 and is the most valuable signing S04 have signed this summer and since the 2020/21 relegation season. The attacker, whose contract with Spartak Moscow was recently terminated, will not be required to pay a fee. Most recently, he was on loan for AIK Solna.
“Jordan convinced us in the talks that he is very interested in Schalke 04 and our common mission to stay in the league,” said S04 sporting director Rouven Schröder. “He can cause danger both as a second striker and on the wing and his qualities will make our attacking game more unpredictable. He not only creates a goal threat himself, but also regularly puts his teammates in the limelight with clever actions.”

According to coach Frank Kramer, Larsson is “always looking for one-on-one and is always able to assert himself with his pace and technique. At the same time, he knows how important playing against the ball is. I am convinced that he will quickly find his way around the team and our game.”
Larsson via Sweden to Schalke – market value slump after peak in Moscow
Larsson joined Russia in 2019 for €4m but didn’t return to Sweden at the end of his loan. The contract was terminated by mutual agreement, the club said at the end of June. For Schalke, it is the 15th new signing (including a permanent loan player) and another free transfer deal that keeps the transfer balance in the black thanks to sales worth millions, for example from Ozan Kabak (22) or Rabbi Matondo (21) (all Schalke transfers in the overview ).

The fact that the former regular player slipped more and more into the reserve role at Spartak last season and was finally loaned to Stockholm as part of the special transfer window set up by FIFA caused the rating to fall significantly by 7 million to now 8 million euros.
