In the derby against VfL Bochum, Schalke 04 got on the losing road in the second round. But the “squires” did not give up – and rewarded themselves for it.
FC Schalke 04 also won its second home game in the new season. In the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga, the team of Miron Muslić prevailed 2-1 (0-0) in the derby against VfL Bochum on Saturday evening and initially climbed fifth due to the success in the table.
Gerrit Holtmann initially put the guests in the lead after a little more than an hour (65th minute). But then Hasan Kurucay (75th) and Bryan Lasme (79th) turned the game within five minutes in favor of the Gelsenkirchener and brought the Veltins-Arena to shake.
Bochum was not enough to win one goal at the first meeting of the two teams in the 2nd league. VfL had a great chance early on. Defense chief Kevin Vogt failed in the 25th minute from the penalty point to goalkeeper Loris Karius. Hasan Kurucay had previously played the ball in the penalty area with her hand and referee Frank Willenborg had received a hint from the video referee.
In contrast, the guests were rarely dangerous from the game. The home side: After four minutes, Vitalie Becker VfL-Keper Timo Horn tested from a distance, shortly before the break, the ex-Bochum Christopher Antwi-Adjei failed in one against one to Horn and also Sylla (54.) did not pass the goalkeeper. Then the gate fell on the other side.
Goalkeeper Karius bounced off a shot from Mats Pannewig, Holtmann reacted quickly and pushed the ball into the far corner. But the Schalke came back – and how. Kurucay steered the shot of the Finn Porath, who was only hired by Holstein Kiel the day before by Holstein Kiel. Lasme, who had already been the winning goal scorer in the cup in Leipzig last week, turned the game shortly afterwards when he fooled Klein-Kiefel in the penalty area and shot up.
