Etienne Vaessen was sent off the field during the cup match with Sparta on Thursday evening after a handball outside the penalty area. The goalkeeper has therefore been suspended for Sunday’s competition match against FC Twente, but FC Groningen is contesting the decision of the KNVB disciplinary committee.
