FOOTBALL – The championship scale of the first division is in Drenthe. Director of professional football of the KNVB, Marianne van Leeuwen, showed the trophy tonight at De Oude Meerdijk. If all goes well, FC Emmen can crown itself champion in its own stadium.
For the Drenthe club it could be the first prize in club history. Tonight Roda JC is the opponent. If FC Emmen can win and direct competitor FC Volendam lose points on a visit to FC Den Bosch, the Drenthe are champions of the first division for the first time in their history.
FC Emmen secured promotion to the Eredivisie a week ago. The formation of trainer Dick Lukkien then won at FC Dordrecht (0-1).
