FOOTBALL – FC Emmen easily settled with Jong FC Utrecht tonight, won 2-0 and thus did good business in the battle for promotion to the Eredivisie. In addition, the men of trainer Dick Lukkien creep closer to leader FC Volendam, which received a major blow from Excelsior. The Rotterdam team won 2-4 in the eel village.
Due to these results, Volendam is still in first place with 9 matches to play, but the difference with FC Emmen has shrunk to two points. Excelsior and FC Eindhoven also hook up and are respectively 3 and 5 points behind Emmen, although Excelsior has played one more game.
