Chelsea FC made an unexpected mistake in the Champions League. In Azerbaijan the “Blues” were even behind at times.
Unexpected slip-up by Chelsea FC on matchday 4 of the Champions League: The London club only played a draw against Azerbaijani outsiders Qarabağ Ağdam on Wednesday evening. In the end it was 2:2 (2:1) at the Tofik Bakhramov Stadium in Baku.
The 18-year-old Estevao took the lead for the guests (16th minute). But Qarabağ struck back twice before the break. Leandro Andrade equalized (29′). Marko Janković turned the game in the home team’s favor with a penalty (39′). Jorell Hato had previously played the ball with his hand in the penalty area.
Shortly after the break, Chelsea came back through substitute Alejandro Garnacho (52′). But it shouldn’t be enough for the club world champion. Although Chelsea were still working on the win, Qarabağ also had the opportunity to score the third goal. Both teams have seven points in the table after the draw.
Meanwhile, Villareal suffered a bitter defeat. The Spaniards lost 0-1 (0-0) to Pafos FC, completely surprisingly. Derrick Luckassen scored the golden goal for the club from Cyprus (46th). For Pafos it was the first victory in Champions League history – a historic success.
Pafos now has five points in its account. Villareal only has one point after four games. The “yellow submarine” is threatened with an early exit from the premier class.
