FC Brentford mourns. The English have lost an estimated employee. He had also taken care of a today’s Bundesliga manager.

Great grief at FC Brentford: The club from the English Premier League announced the death of Christopher Ramsey on Friday. The Australian native worked at the “Bees” as head of the goalkeeper department in the academy. He had already lost the fight against colon cancer on Wednesday, the statement said.

“Chris was a great person who left a lasting impression on everyone with whom he came into contact,” said Jamie Greenwood, interim academic manager at Brentford.

Phil Gilles, football director of the club, also explicitly praised Ramseys’s work. This supported the goalkeeper coach of the first team, Manu Sotelo, and also played an important role for Mark Flekken, Hákon Valdimarsson and the other goalkeepers at FC Brentford in the past seasons. Flekken had been in the club for the past two years before joining Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Gilles now said about Ramsey: “We are incredibly sad about his death, but it is also a moment when we can remember an excellent coach, an esteemed employee and, above all, a fantastic person.”

According to the club, this will happen on Sunday. FC Brentford announced a commemorative service before the home game kicked off against Manchester City. In addition, the players would run with a black mourning. There will also be a minute’s silence.

Ramsey moved to Great Britain in 2009 and worked there for FC Chelsea and FC Fulham. He came to Brentford in 2023.
