FC Bayern will have to be without striker Nicolas Jackson for weeks after the game against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The 24-year-old is taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, which will be held in Morocco from December 21st to January 18th. Jackson is an integral part of his national team, playing in all of the last six games and recording four goals and two assists.
“My information is that he is traveling to the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday after the game against Mainz,” said coach Vincent Kompany about the loan from Chelsea. The Munich team has so far made 17 appearances with five goals and one assist.
In addition to Jackson, who is the most valuable player in the Senegalese squad with a market value of 50 million euros, ex-Bayern professional Sadio Mané was also nominated. Former Cologne player Ismail Jakobs is also part of coach Pape Thiaw’s team. The defending champion is Ivory Coast, Senegal last triumphed in 2022.
