The championship dream has burst for the women of Eintracht Frankfurt. FC Bayern is facing the next title.

The footballers of FC Bayern Munich came closer to the third championship title in a row. In the duel with pursuer Eintracht Frankfurt, the team of coach Alexander Straus prevailed clearly 3-0 (2: 0) away – and thus got a comfortable starting position in the title race of the Bundesliga.

In front of 30,500 spectators in Deutsche Bank Park, Lea Schüller (12th minute) and Klara Bühl (29th) ensured a clear leadership of the league leader in the first half. Immediately after the break, Pernille Harder increased to 3: 0 (48th).

With the away win, the Munich women expanded their lead over Frankfurt to nine points three games before the end of the season. VfL Wolfsburg has the chance to pass the Eintracht on Sunday at SC Freiburg. The gap to Bayern would then be six points.

The game started for the hosts. After a minute, Jella Veit was injured and had to be replaced shortly afterwards. Frankfurt, which had lost ground in the second half of the season after a strong first half of the season and the autumn championship, never really came into play.

In the duel between the highest offensive team in the league – Frankfurt had scored 59 goals until this match day – and the best defensive with only twelve goals conceded Bavaria over the entire season. Frankfurt came into the game better after the break, but could not capitalize on the chances. Lisanne Gräwe again awarded the best option in the first section (18th).

The goal to 2-0 by Klara Bühl was preceded by a longer discussion between referee Karoline Wacker and her assistant – it was about a possible away position. In the end, the hit counted.

Frankfurt, at least in the ranks, posted a small success: the 30,500 spectators meant a new home record for Eintracht. The previous best value came against FC Bayern with 23,200 fans from the 2022 season opener. The league record is a good 38,000 spectators – set up in 2023 in the game of 1. FC Köln against Frankfurt.
