In 2023, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen played a key role in FC Bayern being able to secure the services of Harry Kane, who moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Munich for 95 million euros. Now the 58-year-old is apparently also expected to play a leading role in extending the contract with the English superstar. The CEO may even become the record champion’s “X factor.”

“This,” enthused Uli Hoeneß on Saturday when asked about Harry Kane on “Sky,” “is the best transfer we have ever made.” So it’s no wonder that FC Bayern would like to promptly extend the contract of the captain of the English national football team, which expires in the summer of 2027. But the talks haven’t really gained momentum yet.

“Of course now is not the time to talk. We are very relaxed about the situation. We said that we want to play the season first – and ideally the World Cup too,” said the goalscorer after the DFB Cup final, where he fired his Munich team to their first triumph since 2020 with goals of the season 59 to 61: “Both sides are very happy with each other.”

FC Bayern: CEO as an “X factor” in the Kane talks?

He now wants to have “honest discussions with those responsible. And I am sure that they will also speak honestly with me. But those are conversations that we will have on another day,” the 32-year-old added.

According to “Sport1”, it will not be sports director Max Eberl, as usual, who will take the helm in the negotiations, but Jan-Christian Dreesen.

The CEO of FC Bayern München AG, who played a major role in Kane’s transfer to Munich in 2023, still has “the greatest trust” in the striker and his family. The Three Lions captain’s brother and father, who advise the World Cup driver, have a “good connection” with Bayern CEO Dreesen.

“His advisor is his brother and his dad helps out and we just have a good relationship,” the East Frisian native confirmed to the TV station and emphasized that the basis had been laid to “hopefully do good things together beyond the year 26/27.”

According to “Sport1”, Dreesen is even seen internally as an “X-factor” for a Kane extension at FC Bayern.

One point that the CEO probably needs to address: According to the report, the club and players have a difference in the length of the contract.

While the German industry leader would like to tie the superstar to him for just two more years until 2029, Kane is said to prefer a new working paper until 2030.
