Summer tournament in USA

The FC Bayern Munich professionals have another strenuous summer of football ahead of them in 2025. As FIFA announced on Sunday after the meeting of its council in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the German record champions have already qualified for the premiere of the new Club World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the USA from June 15th to July 13th with a total of 63 games and seven games for the finalists.

Twelve of the 32 teams from Europe are taking part in the new format. In addition to Bayern, the Champions League winners from 2021 to 2023, FC Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City, have already qualified. The winner of the current season in the “premier class” also receives a ticket.

Due to their good results in the most important European Cup in recent years, in addition to Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, FC Porto and Benfica Lisbon have also secured the right to start. Three other European teams can still qualify. Borussia Dortmund (67 points) and RB Leipzig (61 points) also have good chances of reaching the UEFA club coefficient ranking as they are currently first and third.

A total of 19 out of 32 tickets have already been taken. From Africa (four teams) there are El Ahly Cairo and Wydad Casablanca, from Asia (four teams) Al-Hilal SFC and Urawa Red Diamonds, from South America (six teams) Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense, from North, Central America and the Caribbean (four teams) CF Monterrey, Seattle Sounders FC and Club León FC and from Oceania (one team) Auckland City FC. In addition to the twelve free places for the associations, the last ticket goes to a club in the host country.

The football summer of 2025 will be particularly intense for the national players. After the Bundesliga final (May 17th), the cup final (May 24th) and the Champions League final on May 31st in Munich, there is still an international match window with possible World Cup qualifiers or the Nations League final June 2nd and 10th. Five days later the Club World Cup begins overseas.

Discussions about the burden on the top players are inevitable. The summer break before the World Cup season is shortened to around a month for the best clubs before the following World Cup season. However, the top clubs have agreed to the new FIFA format and are involved in marketing through their association, the European Club Association (ECA).

New Intercontinental Cup – U20 World Cup 2025 in Chile

In another new competition, the annual Champions League winner from Europe plays against the winner of a qualifying tournament for the other continental champions. The final of this Intercontinental Cup will take place for the first time on December 18, 2024.

The 2025 U20 World Cup will also be held in Chile. This was announced by the national association ANFP and the world football association FIFA on Sunday. Poland also won the 2026 U20 Women’s World Cup. “Today we were informed that FIFA has decided to put its trust in Chile so that the world’s greatest talents will play the most important youth football tournament in our country in 2025 “Wrote ANFP.

Most recently, there was anger in Chile about FIFA over the awarding of the 2030 World Cup. Chile, along with Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, applied to host the World Cup, but was the only one of the four South American countries that was not considered by the FIFA Council. According to media reports, the award for the U20 World Cup in 2025 should now be a kind of compensation. Chile had already hosted the tournament, which was then called the Junior World Championship, in 1987.
