FC Bayern: video wall during training

Julian Nagelsmann has already left his mark on FC Bayern on the pitch this season. Now the coach has also started to change the training with the record champions according to his ideas.

Before the last Bundesliga game of the season at VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m.), Nagelsmann caused a stir with a huge video screen that he had erected on the sidelines.

The 34-year-old showed his team training content directly on the screen on the screen. Already on Wednesday he gathered his players in front of the screen to teach them theory and practice.

Software enabled the trainer to switch between videos, animations and power point presentations to visually underline his ideas.

As Sam Stanton, former chief analyst at Bristol City, explained to the “Training Ground Guru” portal, the system is particularly helpful when training standard situations. Video analysis on the field combines the explanation of tactical ideas with their implementation and can help to identify mistakes.

Widespread in England – now also at FC Bayern

At the same time, this makes training more efficient because, for example, less time is needed for video viewing in team meetings, says Stanton.

With the help of drones, the training can even be filmed in order to generate analysis material from a bird’s eye view in real time.

Nagelsmann is considered a great advocate of modern training methods. He had already used a video wall when he was at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Clubs from England have also been using this type of technology for several years. Manchester City has equipped the training ground with several large screens, and Manchester United also has a video wall in the training complex.
