The 31-year-old is saying goodbye to Munich at the end of the current season. Now one of the interested parties has apparently prevailed.
At the end of the 2025/26 season, Leon Goretzka’s time at FC Bayern will also end. What will happen next for him is still unclear. The only thing that is clear is that Goretzka is leaving Munich; the decision has been made since the end of January. The German record champions said at the time that they had “jointly decided not to extend the contract, which expires in the summer, after good, open discussions.” Now a possible new club is emerging.
According to information from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan is in the best position in the race for Goretzka; the 31-year-old is said to have already held talks with the top Italian club. The Italian “Gazzetta dello Sport” recently reported on a concrete offer: a three-year contract with a salary of around five million euros per season.
In January it was reported that FC Barcelona and SSC Napoli were also interested in Goretzka. Now the “Rossoneri” has a good chance of signing the long-time Munich top performer. Nevertheless, the future of the seven-time German champion is still not conclusively clarified.
According to a report from the pay-TV broadcaster Sky, Goretzka, in whom clubs from England are currently said to be interested, is initially focusing on the final spurt of the season with Bayern. Only then would he decide on his next step.
In 2018, the Bochum native moved from FC Schalke 04 to Säbener Straße. The midfielder has played 306 games for Bayern so far. He scored 49 goals and prepared 52 more goals. With the Munich team, Goretzka won seven championship titles, the DFB Cup twice and the Champions League in 2020. He was trained at VfL Bochum before making his breakthrough in the professional field at Schalke.
