FC Bayern throws transfer plans overboard

Necessity is the mother of invention: Because none of the desired candidates are available, FC Bayern is said to be changing its transfer plans. In the end, BVB could be one of the beneficiaries.

After the announced move from Niklas Süle to BVB, there was and still is a puzzle as to who will take over the position of national player in FC Bayern’s central defense for the coming season. “Sport Bild” wants to know the (quite surprising) answer.

According to information from the magazine, the people of Munich have thrown their original plans overboard and will not hire any external candidates after all. It said the decision was made internally.

Instead, the solution should come from within the company. From now on, or from the summer, Benjamin Pavard is planned as another central defender. A position in which the Frenchman has seen himself for a long time. He even publicly expressed his desire to change positions last year. Now the club will apparently comply with this request.

Will BVB benefit from Bayern’s turnaround?

FC Bayern could not really get used to the idea of a Pavard transfer for a long time. Therefore, the market was also intensively scoured for a new central defender. But in the end, the Munich team didn’t find the solution they wanted.

Antonio Rüdiger was not only too expensive for the club, but also too old at 29. According to “Sport Bild”, Gladbach’s Matthias Ginter was regarded more as a “squad player than a regular player”. And ideal solution Andreas Christensen not only demanded a lavish salary, but also tended to move to FC Barcelona from the start.

New national player Nico Schlottbeck is said to have played a role in Bayern’s considerations. But the club also rejected this plan, according to “Sport Bild”. The alleged reason: It is not the hoped-for emergency aid at the top level.

At BVB they should see it differently. Dortmund are also trying to get the Freiburger signed – and have now lost what is perhaps their biggest competitor in the fight for Schlotterbeck’s signature.
