There are many signs of an extension

Bayern Munich’s top striker Harry Kane has scored 21 points from ten games so far this season. The 32-year-old has raised the bar more than once since signing in 2023. Recently there has been repeated speculation about an imminent contract extension for the Englishman, who secured a place at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the USA with the Three Lions during the week. There were also rumors, particularly on the island, about a possible Premier League return. In an interview with “The AthleticKane now took a stand again.
Overall, the move to FC Bayern helped him develop not only as a player but also as a person, said Kane. “Until you actually experience something, it’s hard to really estimate what it’s going to be like,” explained the striker, referring to his family’s move to a foreign country. But he could only report positive things about Germany. “I think there’s a perception that Germans are maybe a bit grumpy and cold. But they have a great sense of humor and are really down-to-earth people who love hard work and humility. (…) Everyone talks about football, everyone loves football. Even when I’m out and about or picking up the kids from school, everyone compliments me when I score goals. It’s like a big community.”
“From a professional perspective, it was great to gain new experience and show my talent to a larger part of the world. It helped me become an even better and more successful player. The Premier League is probably the biggest league in the world, so you don’t realize how big the other leagues and their fan bases are. Every stadium we go to is full. The atmosphere is fantastic,” continued Kane.
In the last few weeks, quite a few experts have written about Kane being the best there has ever been. The long-time Tottenham professional’s contract on Säbener Straße is dated until 2027, and there is reportedly an exit clause for a return to England that will be valid from 2026, which is reportedly around 65 million euros – 10 million below Kane’s current market value.
“I try to adapt and understand the different cultures – personally it’s great,” Kane continued about his time in Munich, where he won a major title for the first time in his footballing career. The attacker, who was also voted last season’s Bundesliga player by Transfermarkt users, won the championship and the Supercup in his second year. “From the beginning of my career to this moment, it’s been hard work. A lot of ups and downs, a lot of close moments. Over the years, the closer you get to the goal, I’ve only become more motivated to cross the finish line and win that first trophy,” said Kane, reflecting on his long-running drought.
Kane wants to win even more titles with FC Bayern
The Englishman also said that the celebrations after winning the title were “a special feeling”. “We rented a restaurant and just got drunk and celebrated together. Then holding up the trophy in front of the fans at the Allianz Arena and being there for once was something very special. (…) Those are the moments that make everything worth it. You work so hard all year round, travel a lot and train a lot. In the ten or twelve years I’ve been playing, I’ve never had a celebration like that… it was nice to have that feeling.”

Based on such statements, one can at least assume that Kane’s future in Munich could last beyond 2027. Bayern’s CFO Jan-Christian Dreesen had also recently presented himself optimistically in this regard and with reference to Kane’s performance data: “Contrary to all the cassandra calls two years ago, Harry is getting better every year. If this continues, the answer is clear.”
The professional himself left no doubt that his title hunt at FC Bayern is far from over: “Winning is almost like a drug. You want to do it, you want to achieve it. When you achieve something like that, you might think: ‘Okay, I’ve achieved what I wanted and can relax a bit.’ But I went the other way and said to myself, ‘Okay, I want to achieve more now. I want to experience that feeling with even bigger trophies and on even bigger occasions. Can I improve and do this?’”
